Human beings are compelled to come together.
The goal of DIB is to bring people together in an authentic way, where people seek each other’s differences and find joy in learning in those differences.
Diversity and inclusion encompass more than just numbers, goals, processes, compliance, and audits: they are fundamentally engrained in the human factor.
All three elements are essential and necessary:
Diversity
Diversity is a fact. It’s everything that makes one unique, the seen and the unseen, how they show up, who they are, that is diversity:
Inclusion
Inclusion is creating fairness and equal opportunities for all, act of including them to the dance, act of hiring and trying to put in fair practices at work. Inclusions is the attempt to welcome and acknowledge what makes the team diverse and make it a welcoming workplace, a fair workplace, creating opportunity across every moment that matters, looking for culture add NOT culture fit.
Belonging
****We are compelled to belong and every one of us is compelled to belong in a unique way.
**Light side of belonging** - unlocking one’s authentic self, be leaning in and have high engagement.
**Shadow of belonging** - when one feels in threat, they will cloak and pretend to be something they’re not, so they fit in.
Only when an individual feels a sense of belonging and becomes part of a community where they can be uniquely themselves, do they unlock the power of DIB.
